Dr Quentin Gouil

Head, Health and Epigenomics Across Life (HEAL) Laboratory

Dr Quentin Gouil is a NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow focused on unravelling the mechanisms of genome regulation in health and disease through cutting-edge genomic approaches.

In 2016, Dr Gouil obtained his PhD in Plant Epigenetics from the University of Cambridge, UK, studying transgenerational epigenetic inheritance and DNA methylation mechanisms. His postdoctoral work at La Trobe University revealed how a genome awakens during seed germination. Building on this foundation, he expanded into mammalian systems at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI), where he developed pioneering genomic workflows for studying mammalian epigenetics in health and disease, while also advancing antibody sequencing technologies.

Dr Gouil joined the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute in 2025 to head the Health and Epigenomics Across Life (HEAL) laboratory. His team integrates computational and molecular approaches to deepen the understanding of genome function and enable genomic-informed personalised cancer medicine.
