Head, Leukaemia Biology and Functional Genomics Laboratory

Dr Teresa Sadras is a molecular biologist dedicated to understanding how deregulated genetic and signalling networks impact leukaemia prognosis, progression, and response to therapy.

Dr Sadras obtained her PhD in Genetics from the University of Adelaide in 2013, studying aberrant cytokine signalling in leukaemia. Her postdoctoral research at SAHMRI (Adelaide) and the Beckman Research Institute (Los Angeles) uncovered key roles of gene fusions and SYK-family kinases in B-cell malignancies, leading to publications in Nature, Molecular Cell, and Leukemia.

She has been supported by major fellowships, including a Lymphoma Research Foundation Fellowship, a Gilead Research Scholars Award in Hematological Malignancies, and currently holds a Col Reynolds Mid-Career Fellowship from The Kids’ Cancer Project.

In 2021, Dr Sadras joined the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne to help establish a new paediatric leukaemia program, and in February 2025, was appointed as Head of the Leukaemia Biology and Functional Genomics Laboratory at ONJCRI. Her laboratory integrates functional genomics and leukaemia biology to uncover novel therapeutic targets and advance precision medicine for blood cancers.
