The Hobart Theatre Summer School is presented by one of Australia’s oldest dramatic societies; the Old Nick Company (est. 1948). Old Nick has been producing the Summer School for eighteen years, as an annual project which combines the knowledge of trained educators with those wanting to learn skills, not only on stage, but backstage and in production as well. Students from many colleges and high schools in Hobart have come together to put on a musical, every year since 2005, and 2023 will be no exception… We are thrilled to be presenting Grease: The Musical as our nineteenth annual Summer School production, from 10th-18th February at the Mount Nelson Theatre.

Soon after commencing rehearsals, our young cast were asked to consider potential charity partners for the production. This was not an easy task, with hundreds of worthy organisations across Australia and globally! However, when the cast considered the very special link between Grease’s original Sandy and the Cancer Research Institute named in her honour, the decision was made with ease. Our cast and crew are beyond proud to be supporting the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, and are very grateful for your donation.
