About the position

The IT team sits within the Professional Services team which provides timely and efficient research support services to our cancer researchers to enable them to focus on and get the best out of their research. Working alongside the IT Manager and the IT Systems Administrator, the IT Support Engineer will be responsible for providing 1st and 2nd tier support for desktops (PC and Macs), A/V equipment and computer-based laboratory platforms and equipment in a proactive, efficient and effective manner. This is a very hands-on, face-to face role with variety and exposure to a broad range of responsibilities, including the opportunity to identify process improvement and in collaboration with the IT team, facilitate necessary change in IT service delivery within the Institute.

You must have previous experience in a Service Desk capacity and have a demonstrable experience supporting users in an MS office, desktop applications and operating systems environment in addition to supporting a range of software applications such as Adobe Suite, Endnote, Corel Draw, Endpoint and Prism. Experience in core administration of Active Directory, servers, storage and networks using MS server operating systems is essential, combined with hands on experience in computer hardware installations and trouble shooting.  An added bonus would be your experience in supporting Linux/Mac systems, open source applications such as ImageJ, database administration, Microsoft Exchange Server and Office 365 migration and administration.
