Launch your career in cancer research
Our team is passionate about training the next generation of cancer researchers. As La Trobe University’s School of Cancer Medicine, we offer a unique opportunity to undertake postgraduate study in a truly translational environment, where science and clinical care come together under one roof. We are based on the Austin Hospital campus in Melbourne, Victoria.
We offer Honours, Master’s, and PhD programs for both domestic and international students. As part of our team, you will be mentored by internationally recognised scientists and clinicians, gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge cancer research. Whether your interests lie in immunology, genomics, molecular biology, bioinformatics or imaging, you will be supported by world-class facilities and a collaborative, values-driven community, where your work contributes directly to advancing cancer treatment and care, making a real difference in people’s lives.
Each year, we welcome students from across Australia and around the world.
The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute offers competitive scholarships, with successful candidates receiving a La Trobe University Postgraduate Research Scholarship, providing financial support and fee relief, including for international students. In addition, students receive a dedicated laptop, and PhD candidates are eligible for up to $4,000 to support a final-year international conference and postdoctoral tour, plus $450 towards thesis production.
